How it works
NeighborFix Guide is a referral service with a guide attached. Here is exactly what happens when you call, who you talk to, and how we make money.
NeighborFix Guide is a free referral service. We are not a contractor and do not perform services. Calls and requests are connected to independent local service providers who pay us for referrals.
What happens when you call
- You call the number on any page, or ask for a callback. The call is free.
- You're put through to an independent local business that serves your area and does that kind of work.
- You talk price and timing with them directly. You're never obligated to hire anyone.
Who answers the phone
When you call a number on this site, a pay-per-call network routes your call to an independent business that has told the network it serves your area and handles that kind of work. That business, not NeighborFix Guide, talks with you, gives you a price, schedules the job and does the work. We don't employ anyone who comes to your home.
How we get paid
Providers pay the network for calls and callback requests, and the network pays us a referral fee. Usually that happens only when a call lasts long enough to count as a real conversation. You don't pay us anything, and the call costs what any normal phone call costs you.
Because we are paid for referrals, we have a financial interest in you calling. We try to keep that from shaping the guidance: our pages say when a problem is safe to handle yourself, and they never pressure you with false urgency.
What we don't do
- We don't perform repairs, inspections or treatments.
- We don't set prices, and we can't promise a provider's price, schedule or results.
- We don't inspect or supervise providers' work. Ask any provider about state or local licenses, liability coverage and written estimates before you hire.
- We don't publish testimonials or star ratings, and we don't use photos of people or vans that aren't real.
- We aren't affiliated with any brand, manufacturer or company mentioned in sources we cite.
Calls and recording
Calls are connected through a third-party call network, which may record calls for quality control and to confirm that a referral happened. NeighborFix Guide does not record calls itself. See the privacy policy for what that network may collect.
Callback requests
If you use a callback form, we pass the details you enter (name, phone, ZIP code and a short description) to a limited number of independent providers who serve your area so they can contact you. The exact wording of that consent sits right beside the submit button.
Where our information comes from
Town pages use public data such as the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey, NOAA climate normals and USDA plant hardiness zones, plus extension services, utilities and county offices. Each figure links to its source and shows when we retrieved it. Cost figures are published ranges from named sources, labeled as estimates. If we can't source a number, we leave it out.
Corrections
If something on a page is wrong or out of date, email [email protected] and we'll check it against the source and fix it.
